Usher then recorded his introductory track вЂњCall Me a MackвЂќ for the soundtrack of a drama-romance film, вЂњPoetic JusticeвЂќ in 1993. This contact ultimately led to a contract with the label. Two years later, Usher competed on the talent show вЂњStar SearchвЂќ which brought him in contact with a representative of LaFace Records. Usher however, did not remain in the group, considered a вЂњbad experienceвЂќ by his mother.
